General guidelines for the workshop:
- All first-field IR students are expected to attend every session. Others please join as often as you are able. Papers will be circulated in advance and everyone should read thoroughly prior to attending.
- A student will be assigned to give 3-4 minute comments on each paper advance the discussion. Other graduate students will then comment before faculty jump in.
- Students must practice conference presentations prior to leaving for the conference. Please let me (findley) know well ahead of time when you'll be presenting so I can get you on the schedule. Your conference paper should be complete 4 weeks ahead of the conference and circulated to the IR faculty.
- For external speakers, we encourage all to join for meals (covered by the faculty) and other professional development sessions. Take these opportunities. If you have a paper you'd like to send to the external speaker for comments, please let us know ahead of time and we'll do what we can to arrange.
